Il 4 giugno dalle ore 10:00 alle 11:40, la conferenza internazionale IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for Industry 4.0 and IoT dedica una sessione speciale al ruolo della donna nella nuova rivoluzione industriale. A causa dell’emergenza sanitaria legata al diffondersi del Covid-19, l’evento si terrà online su Microsoft Teams.
In che modo le specificità legate al genere sono prese in considerazione oggi nelle fasi di progettazione di questi sistemi? Ingegneri e ricercatori si confronteranno sul valore del genere nella progettazione di nuovi dispositivi e sistemi di misura, secondo le esigenze dell’Industria 4.0 e dell’Internet delle cose.
I grandi passi avanti fatti nell’ingegneria di materiali intelligenti, nella sensoristica e nell’internet delle cose consentono di ripensare la progettazione dei dispositivi di monitoraggio di parametri fisici e comportamentali, tenendo conto in modo sempre più sofisticato delle caratteristiche dell’utilizzatore finale.
Questo porta inevitabilmente a domandarsi se considerare il genere dell’utente durante la progettazione di un dispositivo o di un sistema possa diventare una delle chiavi per definirne in maniera ottimale le caratteristiche. In particolare, se pensiamo alla donna come utilizzatore, la vestibilità dei sistemi di misura indossabili, la tipologia dei parametri da misurare, la gestione e la protezione dei dati personali sono solo alcuni tra i molti aspetti che possono influenzare l’affidabilità di un sistema e la qualità dei dati che produce.
In questo quadro estremamente attuale e in continua evoluzione, la sezione italiana di IEEE Women in Engineering ti invita a partecipare all’evento “Gender-Inspired Approaches to the Design of Innovative Measurement Systems and IoT Applications”. Un’occasione per poter condividere con i nostri ricercatori idee e soluzioni che diano centralità alla partecipazione delle donne nell’innovazione tecnologica.

How are gender specificities taken into consideration today in the design process of these systems? Engineers and researchers will discuss the value of gender in the design of new devices and measurement systems, according to the needs of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things.
The great advancements accomplished in the engineering of intelligent materials, sensors and the Internet of things allow us to rethink the design of the devices for the monitoring of physical and behavioral parameters, taking into account the characteristics of the end user in an increasingly sophisticated way.
This inevitably leads to the question of whether to consider the user’s gender when designing a device or system can become one of the keys to optimally define its characteristics. In particular, if we think of women as users, the wearability of wearable measurement systems, the parameters to be measured, the management and protection of personal data are just some of the many aspects that can influence the reliability of a system and the quality of the data it produces.
In this very current and constantly evolving context, the IEEE Italy Section Women in Engineering Affinity Group invites you to participate in the event “Gender-Inspired Approaches to the Design of Innovative Measurement Systems and IoT Applications“. An opportunity to share with our researchers ideas and solutions that give central role to the participation of women in technological innovation.
