IEEE India Council has constituted Awards to recognize the individual or collective efforts of the membership in promoting the interests of IEEE as reflected in the operation of the India Council and its entities.

Awards 2020 Results
The India Council Awards are administered by IC Awards Committee. In order to recognize the dedicated efforts of IEEE Volunteers IEEE India Council following awards were declared.

The India Council Awards are administered by IC Awards Committee.
In order to recognise the dedicated efforts of IEEE Volunteers IEEE India Council will give the following awards:

- Outstanding Volunteer Awards:
- The primary criteria for selection are the enthusiastic support of the volunteer to the section/chapter activities by him or her in last two calendar years i.e. 2019 and 2020 till the time of application which shall carry 75% weightage.
- Contribution prior to 1st Jan 2019 shall carry 25% weightage.
- Winner will be those who, through have done volunteering at the section/chapter/IC/Region level at various forums like conferences, seminars, symposiums, technical talks etc. organised by the branch, subsection, section, region and Membership development.
- Award Committee may seek the endorsement of the shortlisted candidates by the respective sections.
- Biography of Volunteer emphasizing his or her IEEE related activities for the year.
- Winner shall be presented Certificate during IEEE INDICON 2020 (NO TA/DA shall be provided by IC) however winner can request section for the travel support.
- The Jury Members of Awards, IC office bearer (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, VC Awards, VC SAC) are not be eligible to apply.
- Those who are beneficiary in last three years shall not be eligible.
- Student Branch Award
- This award is to recognize the contributions made by the IEEE student branches in increasing the awareness of IEEE and the value addition the branch has brought in to the campus.
- The award will be decided based on various factors like the current membership count, growth of members, number of seminars, symposiums, colloquiums conducted in the year, Papers published/presented in various forum by members, awards won by members, significant value addition in the campus.
- All student branches with more than 50 active IEEE student members are eligible to submit the application.
- Branch should not be one amongst listed in dormant branch.
- Those who got in Best Branch Award in last three years shall not be considered for awards (2019, 2018 and 2017).
- Nominations are to be sent duly endorsed by Student Branch Counsellor and Section Chair and it should reach to VC awards by 15th October 2020 (by uploading only).
- Winner shall be presented Certificate during IEEE INDICON 2020 (NO TA/DA shall be provided by IC).
- India Council Outstanding Industry Award

- IEEE IC Technologist of the Year 2020: The objective of this award will be to recognize technical excellence with benefit to society in the field of electrical engineering, and related technical areas. This award will recognize the outstanding individual contributions in industry.
- IEEE IC – Woman Technologist of the Year 2020: The objective of this award will be to recognize technical excellence with benefit to society in the field of electrical engineering, and related technical areas. This award will recognize the outstanding individual contributions by women technologists in industry.
- IEEE IC – Technology Start-up of the Year 2020: The objective of this award will be to recognize technology Start-up organization with benefit to society in the field of electrical engineering, and related technical areas. The nominated Start-up organization should have been registered in India, and must have been operational for a period of at least 2 years; and the technical innovations being cited should have been performed in India.

Eligibility:

- The nominee should have been residing and working in India – at least – for the last 5 years.
- Nominations are to be sent through Email and it should reach to VC awards by 15th October 2020.
- It is desirable but not essential that one of the founder should be IEEE member (student or above) for at least 2 years including current year however this is not essential.
- The primary criteria for selection are the enthusiastic support of the volunteer to the section/Subsection/Council/Industry by him or her in last two calendar years i.e. 2019 and 2020 till application which shall carry 75% weightage.
- Contribution prior to 1st Jan 2019 shall carry 25% weightage.
- In case of Industry awards if it is a team effort, the individual technical contribution of the nominee to the technical innovations needs to be clearly identified.
- Nominations are to be sent to VC awards by 15th October 2020 (by uploading only).
- Winner shall be presented Certificate during IEEE INDICON 2020 (NO TADA shall be provided by IC, however section can provide).
- Details of awards and link shall be available on IC Website.
- The Jury Members of Awards, IC office bearer (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, VC Awards) are not be eligible to apply.
- In case of Industry awards Non-IEEE member can also apply and is not restricted as its multi-disciplinary everywhere.
- Self-nomination or Nomination – both are allowed.
- Search Committee can also nominate a person of repute.
- India Council Leadership Awards
- India Council Lifetime Achievement Awards for IC Chairs
- India Council Leadership Awards for Section/Subsection Chairs
Eligibility:
- The primary criteria for selection are to motivate and recognise great efforts by IEEE volunteers at leadership positions to the Council /Section/Sub-section Region/MGA activities by him or her in last few years i.e. 2019 and prior.
- Candidate should have done volunteering at the section/subsection /IC Region/MGA level specially brought major impact.
- Biography of Volunteer emphasizing his or her IEEE related activities for the year (2020 and prior).
- Nominations are to be sent through Email and it should reach to VC awards by 15th October 2020.
- Winner shall be presented Certificate during IEEE INDICON 2020 (NO TA/DA shall be provided by IC).
- The Jury Members of Awards, IC office bearer (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer) and current Chair (Section /subsection) are not eligible to apply.
- Self-nomination or Nomination – both are allowed.
- Those who are beneficiary shall not be eligible.
- Search Committee can also nominate a person of repute.
- WIE Awards – call shall be separately sent through WIE Chair

IEEE India Council Outstanding Volunteer Award is given on the basis of the enthusiastic support of the volunteer to the section/chapter activities, new initiatives and contributions, which have significantly benefited the Section, demonstrated administrative abilities and leadership skills, supporting, advancing and promoting work & objectives of the IEEE in general, and of the Section in particular, Chapter or Student Branch level, or in some other IEEE volunteer activity.

2016 India Council Student Branch Award and Outstanding Volunteer Award
IEEE India Council is happy to announce winners of following IEEE India Council Awards.
1. IEEE India Council Outstanding Student Branch Award – 2017: G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur (Bombay Section) (Branch Code: STB 62361). This award is to recognize a student branch that has maintained membership, provided student members with opportunities to volunteer, and helped in the promotion of IEEE and its mission.
2. IEEE India Council Outstanding Volunteer Award – 2017: Dr. Vijay Bhaskar Semwal (UP Section, 93398659) and Dr. Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray (Kolkata Section, 90483659). Summary:
Congratulations to the 12 Student Branches who have made the prequalifying round for the IC Award of Outstanding Branch 2014 to be presented during Indicon in Delhi. There were 51 student branches All India out of about 600+ who have consistently reported, and 12 branches which have parallelly had a growth in membership over the same period.
