Conference Tutorials are designed to enrich the technical experience of the attendees and their local counterparts.  This year we are offering four tutorials, in two parallel tracks, that will be held on the last day of the Conference; Friday, May 8th, 2015.


As in preceding years, the tutorials are sponsored by active Committees of the Industrial & Commercial Power Systems’ Department of the IAS.  The title and brief description of each tutorial is given below.


Tutorials will meet the continuing education requirements of Professional Engineering organizations.  Participants in the Tutorials can request Continuing Education Unit (CEU) certificates.


Tutorial 1 (Friday AM):  Reliability of 7×24 Continuous Power Systems in Industrial and Commercial Facilities and the Application of IEEE Std 3006.7.  Organized and Presented by Bob Schuerger.  Covers “IEEE Std 3006.7”, successor to a key Chapter in the IEEE Gold Book.


Tutorial 2 (Friday AM):  Harmonics & Power Quality in Industrial Power Systems.  Organized and Presented by Mark Halpin.  Organized in cooperation with the University of Calgary IEEE Student Branch.  Elaboration on a very successful presentation delivered in Nov 2014.


Tutorial 3 (Friday PM):  Operation, Maintenance and Safety of Industrial & Commercial Power Systems and the application of IEEE Std Series 3007.  Organized by Erling Hesla.  Covers “IEEE Series 3007 Stds”, successor to the IEEE Yellow Book.


Tutorial 4 (Friday PM):  MV Motors and their Applications in Industrial Systems.  Organized and Presented by Bill Lockley.  Elaboration on a very successful presentation delivered in Mar 2014.
