SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR AN ENJOYABLE DAY IN CALGARY.  All of Tuesday’s event options are self-guided.

After surviving the flood of 2013 the zoo has completely reopened.  It is Canada’s top rated zoo (trip advisor) and has distinguished itself as one of the top zoos in the word for conservation research.
Take the NE CTrain (on 7AV) 2 stops from downtown free zone.

At the base of the Calgary Tower from noon till 1pm, enjoy a comedy featuring three struggling stay at home Dads.

3.  Glenbow Museum  www.glenbow.org
Adjacent to the Marriott and connected by the Plus 15 system, explore the permanent collection of the museum or enjoy one of their special programs.

4.  Walk to Princess Island (7 blocks) to access Calgary’s pathway system.

9:15-11:30 Historical Walking Tour of Calgary

Calgary is steeped in the excitement and the lore of the Old West.  Stephen Avenue was a popular spot for Cowboys, cattle barons Aboriginal people, oil and gas czars and Mounties.

In 1875, the Mounties were ordered to establish a fort where the Bow and Elbow rivers meet and named it Fort  Calgary.  Calgary, translated from Gaelic means “clear running water.”
You will be introduced to the city’s early landmarks and the forces that shaped our city.  The route is flat, accessible and led by an enthusiastic retiree.

A tea Master will share with us the art of preparing and serving of Chinese Gong Fu tea.  A 45 min guided tour of the Museum which is modelled after the Temple of Heaven in Beijing China.

If dinosaurs and fossils are of interest you will enjoy this museum of Paleontology.  Driving time 1.5h to Drumheller AB
