Contribution of renewables in grid stability, and the missing inertia

In recent years, the increased renewable energy generation penetration in the Australian electrical grid has created many challenges for the system operator. Among many is the frequency stability of power systems and the necessary inertia.

In this seminar, the speaker discussed the system operation into two parts: normal operation and operation during a disturbance. During this session, the real impact of renewables (Solar, Wind and Battery storage) on frequency stability during both operation modes have been discussed.
