On July 18, 2019, the Training given by Prof. Eng. EH Claudio Moreno, a university professor at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, National University of Asunción, with extensive experience in the manufacture and implementation of biodigesters, both at an industrial level as at homes.
The focus of the training was to lay the foundations of the Biodigester Application in practice, possible failures and success stories in communities. Among the most relevant we have that the ideal condition for bacteria is to keep at 35 ° C for Paraguay, which represents an optimal condition inside the reactor, as for the pH value 3 is ideal, below this value they begin to die. In order to avoid this, the material must be continuously loaded into the reactor every day, the reactor must be tightly-closed so that oxygen does not enter the system, and the structures must be impermeable to avoid leaching to the ground.
The main products obtained from the bioreactor are:
- Biogas: which seeks to replace the use of firewood, avoiding the risk in homes of side effects resulting from exposure to smoke.
- Biofertilizer: its use is important for the gardens, being able to implement organic production systems.
Thus, the percentage of production of these two products mentioned corresponds to a factor between water and organic matter.
Regarding the implementation of biodigesters in communities considering the sociocultural field, the hierarchy of men as decision makers must be taken into account when presenting project ideas, and that to work with women and to involve them in the decision making process, first, decisions must be made with the men of the community, because in indigenous culture they are subject to their authorization. Also consider that learning must have a demonstrative and practical approach, because technology is something new for them.
