Single and three-phase rectifiers: Review of topologies and control

This activity was a lecture delivered by Francisco Azcondo, a professor at the University of Cantabria, Spain. The lecture was a survey of AC-DC and DC-DC control topologies oriented to obtain high power factor and efficiency.

The main topics were:

  • Single and three-phase ac-dc topologies with the alternatives for their control.
  • Current sensorless control using a combination of control techniques.
  • The use of resistor emulators to mitigate Ferro-resonance events.

The activity was held at the University of the Andes in Lleras auditorium. One hundred and fifty people including students, professors, and professionals of a variety of universities of Colombia, including University of the Andes, National University of Colombia (Bogota and Manizales branches), Universidad de los Llanos, Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas, Universidad Javeriana, Universidad Autonoma de Occidente, Universidad Surcolombiana, Universidad Tenológica de Pereira, and Universidad de Ibague attended the activity. The activity started at 9:30 A.M and finished at 10:30 A.M.
The activity was organized by the University of the Andes IAS student branch chapter and the Colombian IAS professional chapter.
