This activity was a lecture delivered by Juan Carlos Balda, a professor at the University of Arkansas, US. The lecture was about potential applications of silicon carbide semiconductors in electric distribution systems.
The main topics were:
- Overview of some semiconductor devices.
- 3.3 and 100kV SiC MOSFETs.
- Overview of multilevel converters.
- Solid state power substations.
- Series connections of semiconductor devices.
The activity was held at the University of the Andes in Lleras auditorium. One hundred people including students, professors, and professionals of a variety of universities of Colombia, including University of the Andes, National University of Colombia (Bogota and Manizales branches), Universidad de los Llanos, Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas, Universidad Javeriana, Universidad Autonoma de Occidente, Universidad Surcolombiana, Universidad Tenológica de Pereira, and Universidad de Ibague attended the activity. The activity started at 8:30 A.M and finished at 9:30 A.M.
The activity was organized by the University of the Andes IAS student branch chapter and the Colombian IAS professional chapter.
