The two-day workshop on “Bioelectronics” was held at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on Dec. 15-16, 2017. The number of attendees was larger than 200. Three invited speakers from European Companies and Research institutions made keynote presentations on related topics. In addition, seven presentations by Academics or Experienced Engineers coming from the Greek Industry/Academy were also given. A panel discussion on the career opportunities in the field was organized by the end of the first day of the workshop, to provide ideas and guidelines to the University students on the available employment options in the Greek and the European Area, both in the Industry and Academia/Research.
A special session of the workshop has been dedicated to the IEEE membership related benefits and opportunities – aiming at the promotion of the IEEE CASS activities in Greece and world-wide. During the event the results for the student contest on the best “Master thesis (Diploma) project” from Greek Universities in the above research areas, were announced. The best thesis has been awarded with 250 Euros.
There was a close collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which is very active and substantially helped with the organization of the workshop.
The event was financially supported by the IEEE CASS Outreach Initiative 2017 activity, the IEEE Greece CAS/SSC joint Chapter and the Research Committee of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. No fees were charged to the attendees. All the participants had access to lunches and coffee breaks and the presenters were also invited to dinners.
