The Workshop on “Wireless Sensor Node Circuit and System Design”, was held in Thessaloniki on 7-8 Dec., 2015, organized by Prof. Stylianos Siskos and Dr. Thomas Noulis, Electronics Lab., Dept. of Physics (http://wisedesign.physics.auth.gr). It covered all aspects of Wireless Sensor node and Wireless Communications, devices, circuits and systems design, simulation and measurement. Indicative topics are analog/RF devices and circuits, data converters, RF and mmWave blocks, Frequency generation, Wireless and Wireline systems, imagers, power management, instrumentation and measurement. Two keynote presentations were held: one by Dr. P. Baumgartner from INTEL, Munich, Germany and one by Dr. M. Bafleur from LAAS-CNRS, Toulouse, France. Other invited presentations by Academics or/and Experienced Engineers coming from the European and mostly from the Greek Industry and Academia were also held. A Session on ‘Career opportunities in the Semiconductor Industry’ was organized as to provide guidelines to the University students on the available employment options into the European Area, both in the Industry and Academia/Research and the related IEEE student membership benefits will be presented. A special session about IEEE CAS-SSC joint Chapter activities in Greece was also organized.
The event was financially supported by the IEEE CASS “Outreach initiative 2015” activity, the IEEE Greece CAS-SSC joint Chapter and the Research Committee of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Very successful event, with a large number of participants, especially students in the Master on Electronics program of the Dept. of Physics and interesting and very positive interaction with the audience.
