About the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers

IEEE is the world’s largest professional association advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. It publishes technical journals, sponsors conferences, develops technology standards, and supports the professional interests of more than 400,000 members. IEEE creates an environment where members collaborate on world-changing technologies—from computing and sustainable energy systems to aerospace, communications, robotics, and healthcare—to engineer a better tomorrow.

About the Green Mountain Section (GMS) of the IEEE

The Green Mountain Section (GMS) of the IEEE was founded in 1960 and currently has approximately 500 members with a diverse range of interests from both academia and industry. The GMS has 4 professional chapters (Computer Society, Electron Device Society, Power and Energy Society, and Solid-State Circuit Society) plus a joint Engineering in Medicine and biology Society run jointly with New Hampshire and Maine. There are also two student chapters operated by students from the University of Vermont and Norwich College. These chapters organize meetings, seminars and conferences throughout the year that are advertised on our web site. In addition, the GMS hosts an annual seminar and social event in December of each year.
