The 2018 PhD student meeting of the IEEE German EMC Chapter took place on July 17th and 18th at the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Measurement Technology, Leibniz University Hannover. 24 participants – working in the field of EMC – came from different German universities (e.g. Erlangen-Nürnberg, Duisburg-Essen, Dortmund, Hamburg (TUHH), Magdeburg, Siegen, Kiel, Hannover, Helmut-Schmidt-Universität in Hamburg and Jade University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven):A very good opportunity to get to know each other and exchange experiences.
Prof. Heyno Garbe opened the event and gave a presentation of the local institute. During the two days each PhD student presented briefly his/her field of research to the community. In addition engineers from the “EMC & Antenna department” of IAV GmbH in Gifhorn demonstrated current and future EMC challenges in a “cloud car”. For this purpose a dedicated vehicle was equipped with lots of additional electronics.
A barbecue took place in the evening, providing a relaxed atmosphere to review the first day.
The second day continued with presentations by the PhD students about their ongoing work. Finally a tour through the lab of the institute closed this inspiring event.
