[IADF TC Newsletter] July 2019

Dear Members of the Image Analysis and Data Fusion TC,

Please find below a few news about current IADF activities and about what might be of interest for our community.

# TC Chair elections

IADF TC members (with up-to-date IEEE GRSS subscription) can now vote for electing the next TC Chair for the 2019-2021 term.

# IGARSS 2019

We are looking forward to see you at IGARSS 2019, in Yokohama, Japan, at the end of the month!

There will be several IADF-related activities:

FD-3 – Machine Learning in Remote Sensing – Best practices and recent solutions

On Sunday, Ronny and I, along with Yuliya Tarabalka and Devis Tuia, will give a full day tutorial on machine learning in remote sensing. Beyond the black box of the deep learning trend, we will cover and explain machine
learning mechanisms, from random forests to neural networks, the maths behind, and good practices for setting up a machine learning project.

Get your ticket here: https://igarss2019.org/Registration.asp

When and where? Sunday full day, July 28, 9:30 to 17:30. Room to be announced.

TU3.R10 & TU4.R10: Data Fusion: The AI Era I

Our invited session about “Data Fusion: The AI Era” will aim at reviewing the deep changes in data fusion and multimodal analysis and draw perspectives on what will come next. It will feature a keynote talk by Prof.
Lorenzo Bruzzone and gathers a bunch of the most fine researchers in the field.

When and where? Tuesday afternoon, July 30, 13:40 to 18:00, in room 418 of the Pacifico Convention Center

Image Analysis and Data Fusion TC Meeting

Annual face-to-face meeting of our technical committee.

When and where? Tuesday afternoon, July 30, 18:00 to 19:00, in room 418 of the Pacifico Convention Center

WE1.R7 & WE2.R7: IEEE GRSS Data Fusion Contest

The 8 winning teams of the 2019 Data Fusion Contest (http://www.grss-ieee.org/community/technical-committees/data-fusion/2019-ieee-grss-data-fusion-contest-results/) will present their cutting-edge solutions for
Large-Scale Semantic 3D Reconstruction in the Data Fusion Contest invited session:

When and where? Wednesday morning, July 31, 8:00 to 12:20, July 31, in room 413 of the Pacifico Convention Center

Please also note there is a code workshop organized by Nathan Longbotham and Drew Bollinger among TIE events. It is designed to build hands-on experience with software tools and data.
