Submission Formatting:

Each submission should be an abstracts in one of the following 6 formats (references are not included in the word limit):

  • Individual papers (500 words)
  • Special paper session (1000 words)
  • Posters (500 word abstract)
  • Panel proposals (1000 words)
  • Tutorial proposals (1000 words)
  • Workshop proposals (1000 words)

For panel, tutorial, and workshop proposals, be sure to list the participants and to describe their roles. For special paper sessions, please provide authors, title and brief abstract for each paper.

Submissions will be divided into the following 5 tracks, as described in the Call for Papers:

A. Ethics Fundaments

B. Ethics in Science, Technology and Engineering Disciplines

C. Ethics, Morality, Law, and Culture

D. Ethics, Society, and Environment

E. Ethics and Education

When submitting, please indicate in the title of your submission the type of proposal (individual paper, panel, etc.) and the track number you feel best fits your proposal.

For example:
(Individual paper; track E) Teaching Engineering Ethics to Undergraduates: A Task-Based Learning Approach
Or,
(Panel proposal; track B)  New Approaches to Robot Ethics

Papers for the Symposium Record

Authors of accepted individual paper, special paper session, panel session, and poster proposals should upload papers (or PowerPoint presentations for panels) to the Symposium Record prior to the conference, as specified below.

  • An individual paper presentation of 5 pages (recommended, but not limited to) in the Symposium Record.
  • A special paper session with 3-4 papers on a related theme with 5 pages for each paper (recommended, but not limited to) in the Symposium Record.
  • A panel session on a specific topic with 3-4 panelists (no papers required but PowerPoint presentations may be included in the Symposium Record).

An “open forum” (poster) paper with up to 5 pages in the Symposium Record. Posters will be displayed with the author(s) present for informal presentation and discussions.
