UT Dallas Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS)

Do you have a background in engineering or computer science and an interest in helping university students with technical projects? Becoming involved in UT Dallas Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) is a great opportunity to connect with students and give back to the community.

EPICS is a class offered at UTD in which undergraduate students work in teams on real engineering projects for local non-profit organizations. UTD Engineer in Residence (EiR) is a student organization helping to pair up each EPICS team with a volunteer mentor each semester. Such a mentor would be required to attend a start-of-the-semester meeting with the EPICS program coordinator, and from there commit a minimum of 1-3 hours per week to provide technical guidance as needed for one student team that semester. UTD EiR is currently looking for volunteers for the Fall 2018 semester. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Engineer in Residence at If you represent a local organization and would like to have UTD EPICS work on one of your projects, please contact Andrea Turcatti at
