STEM volunteer opportunity in May

Join IEEE Dallas Young Professionals and the Shoulders of Giants at Cannon Elementary for their 2017 Young Engineers’ Night Expo.

This Expo helps kids explore today’s technologies and the unlimited opportunities of tomorrow with hands-on activities and exhibits. The event is designed for all ages and helps them imagine the technological possibilities of the future and map out career options in STEM.

We need volunteers for this STEM event in which we will be teaching children the fundamentals of electronics and electromagnetics by helping them build a wireless power transfer circuit that will wirelessly turn on a LED.

Photos from the UTD EiR April event

On April 12th, the Engineer in Residence (EiR) Committee held an IEEE YP-sponsored Entrepreneur Panel event at UT Dallas. EiR is a program at UTD that allows students in the school of Engineering and Computer Science to meet with industry professionals for technical advice and career guidance. EiR brought six entrepreneurs to speak to students about their passions and experiences: Avery Spencer, Chad Hebel, Dennis Robbins, David Hitt, Alex Ross, and Urshel Metcalf. They offered advice to audience members during a Q&A section at the end, and students were able to talk with the panelists one-on-one over pizza afterwards. What a great way for EiR to end the school year for UTD students!
