IEEE Dallas Young Professionals Fall Social Event

Image

Our Fall Social Event will be at Klyde Warren Park on September 28th. We will be joining YESNET, Raytheon’s Young Employee Network. We will hang out at the park, grab a bite from Relish, and play games. I plan to bring a soccer ball and a group game. Feel free to bring your favorite game and/or ball to toss/kick/etc.

Our plan is to meet there at 6:30pm. There will be three options:

1. Drive down there on your own (or carpool). I’m not sure what parking options are available. I do know you can park in the Opera House or Symphony parking garages. You can find more information here: https://www.klydewarrenpark.org/Visit-the-Park/index.html

2. Meet me, Daniel Schlieter, at the Arapaho Center DART Station. The plan is to take the 5:47pm Orange Line to the St. Paul Station and walk 0.5 mi north to Klyde Warren Park. Please arrive no later than 5:40pm with DART pass in hand to make the Orange Line. If you do happen to be late, you can take the Red Line leaving at 5:56pm, get off at the St. Paul Station, and walk 0.5 mi north to Klyde Warren Park. Google map directions are below. Here is my contact info:

IEEE DALLAS YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FALL SPEAKER EVENT: TRANSITIONING INTO ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Image

Thank you all for coming out to listen to our fall speaker Devon Ryan. Devon who is the founder of Lion Mobile and a IEEE USA board member gave a great talk about Professional Career Development: Transitioning into Entrepreneurship. I especially liked the part about always staying hungry, and that sometimes even though tasks seem impossible we can always tackle them by doing a small step at a time. We should always remember our future goal and how every step brings us a little closer to achieving it.

I would once again like to than our speaker Devon Ryan. I would also like to thank all our IEEE Young Professional Board Members who attended: Daniel, Robert, Thomas, and Nathan. Also a special thanks to Pete Poorman from UT Dallas who provided the event locations and to Chipotle for donating the food!

Thanks for attending and we hope to see everyone at a future event!

2016 IEEE Dallas Industry Networking Gala

Sometimes getting the opportunity to sit down face-to-face with a prospective employer is the most difficult obstacle to overcome when seeking a first job. Many recent graduates are far more impressive candidates in reality than they appear on paper, but without prior work experience, their resume continues to be passed over on application after application. The 2016 IEEE Dallas Young Professionals Industry Networking Gala will provide an opportunity for students and young professionals to showcase themselves as impressive candidates. Attendees will enjoy a semi-formal cocktail banquet in the company of a diverse array of industry sponsors, from small-business owners to representatives of the corporate giants.

More information is coming soon and most recent updates can be found here: http://site.ieee.org/dallasyp/2016-networking-gala
