Officer Position Descriptions

Chapter Chair:
• Spokesperson for the chapter and is the interface to the next level up in the IEEE organization (the Section)
• Chair meetings and other chapter activities

Vice Chair:
• Chair meetings/activities in absence of Chair
• Assume additional authority or activity as designated by Chair or Executive Committee

Treasurer:
• Work with Section Treasure to manage the funds of the Chapter
• Records expenses and income
• Seeks Corporate or IEEE Funds
• File chapter reimbursement report to the Section if needed

Secretary:
• Takes notes at the officers planning session
• Creates sign-in sheet and bring to each speaker meeting
• Creates online-meeting RSVP
• Files on line an IEEE form that reports number of attendees at the events

Program Officer:
• Find speakers, book speakers, and keep dialog with speakers till the event
• Design flyers of events if needed
• Often introduces the speaker to the audience

Membership Development Officer:
• Solicit and invite people to become IEEE-EMBS members
• Develop and organize membership drive events

Professional Development Officer:
• Develop support systems to help professional in career transition. (Job fairs, Employer/Job Seeker networking sessions, How to Find a Job training,…)

Communication Officer:
• Sends the newsletters and announcements
• Maintain website
• Maintain the electronic distribution list
• Finds new names to add to the list

Industry Liaison Officer
• Develops relationships with local companies to invite to speaker events,
• Solicit corporate sponsorship if needed.

Student Development Officer
• Develop ways to encourage students to engage in the profession of
• Engineering in Medicine (mentor program, high school fair participation,
• etc…)

Award Officer
• Selects awards given to speakers and Society contributors or other thank you gifts
• Report members’ wishes, recommendations, and achievement to the Chapter/Section.

Symposium Officer
• Coordinate all the efforts and related activities to prepare for the annual medical device symposium
