Next Meeting:   April 12, 2021

Date: Monday April 12, 2021
TIME:  7PM8:00PM

TOPIC: AccessMyResearch: Bringing Global Research to Local Businesses

Speaker:  Dr. Mehmet Günal, Founder AccessMyResearch.org

Program Description: Have you ever thought of starting a business, but needed some research before you could move forward? What if you weren’t an academic? You found that accessing research was expensive. Accessing research is also very fragmented. You can’t get access unless you’re an academic!

Come to the April 12 IEEE Consultants Network Meeting and listen to Dr. Mehmet Günal and AccessMyResearch: Bringing Global Research to Local Businesses. He will show you how his company AccessMyResearch can help you overcome the barriers and get you the research you need.

BIO: Dr. Günal founded AccessMyResearch because he identified an unmet need in research: Multiple barriers to accessing academic research significantly hinder the pace of scientific progress. These barriers are:

-Access to academic research is expensive
-Access is highly fragmented
-Academic expertise and resources are restricted to academia

AccessMyResearch.org (AMR) is a 501(c)(3) for-impact organization, a nonprofit alternative to current research access and collaboration platforms that removes these barriers, promotes collaboration, and levels the playing field for all.

Dr. Günal’s Ph.D. is in Cognition and Neuroscience.

He received his BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University with a specific focus on Digital Signal Processing. His prior brain imaging research experience involved characterization and removal of respiratory artifacts for fMRI, investigating fiber connectivity between Broca’s and Wernicke’s area among stuttering children using DTI, and developing a brain-computer interface using a wheelchair and an EEG cap.

His prior behavioral research experience involved an evolutionary approach to adaptive memory and learning and exploring the survival processing of face recognition and context information. His most recent research in Dr. Krawczyk’s Reasoning Lab investigates attention control by measuring lateral versus medial frontopolar cortex (BA 10) and LC-NE network activity using simultaneously acquired fNIRS and pupillometry response.
