Fawzi Behmann has over 30 years experience in telecommunications and data communications. His roles have included product management, marketing leadership, program management, and software development. Currently, Fawzi is Director of Marketing & Strategic Advisor at Power.org. As the Director of Marketing & Strategic Advisor, Fawzi coordinate work with Technical, Marketing and Operations committees, develop 3-year strategic plan. Key areas of focus include streamlining the governance model to increase business results, and technical and business initiatives fostering collaborative innovation. Fawzi organized several local and international technical webinars & conferences. Fawzi drives membership development, energizes collaboration with developers & academia and facilitates business collaboration. Prior to Power.org, Fawzi was the Director of Strategic Marketing with Motorola/Freescale and he was also the chair of the marketing committee of Power.org, advancing Power Architecture roadmap, technology and ecosystems. Prior to Motorola/Freescale, he was senior product manager at Nortel Networks. He has also been a project leader and program director at a global service provider, leading software development for a system based on computer networks for real-time monitoring and control for telecom traffic and services. He participated in the development of ITU M.3000 standards for Telecom Management Networks. Fawzi has written and published several white papers, and was presenter and keynote speaker at several conferences. Fawzi holds B.SC, Master in Computer Science and Executive MBA.
Fawzi is a currently the Chair of IEEE COMSOC/SP Austin Chapter and board members with Austin SPIN and Power.org.
Nitin is Principal software engineer at NXP with 20 years of experience in Embedded system software. He has been with NXP for over 9 yrs. Nitin is Global BSP lead for i.MX software and responsible for pre-silicon development via emulation, SOC bringup, Embedded software development, delivery and support of Kernel BSP. He led the architecture and implementation of Emulation system for i.MX products. The emulation system is key for pre-silicon development of ROMs, OS porting, driver development and validation. He is distinguished for his contributions to i.MX products. He has earned several recognition and awards, including “Bravo”. Nitin is a recognized judge for CODiE, Stevie, Webby and SXSW Innovation Awards focusing on technical innovations. These awards recognize innovators and creators from all over the world for best innovations.
Nitin has Bachelors of Engineering in Computer Engineering. Nitin resides in Austin with his wife and two kids and loves spending quality time with his family. He also enjoys fixing things and doing wood work in his free time.
Dr. Hanan Potash has a forty-year career as an executive and computer and networks architect in computer pipelining, CAD and high performance digital networks. Received the Burroughs 1982 technology award for packet switching protocols. Ground breaking contributions are the highly cited patents including computer branch prediction, basic data discrimination circuits used throughout communication and magnetic recording industry, and a CMOS technology that combined ROM as a layered structure in chip fabrication. Held Vice Present of Engineering positions at a variety of companies and served as Director of Architecture at Burroughs/Unisys. Recived his Ph.D degree with distiction at UCLA. Served as IEEE ComSoc/SP chair and was responsible for the IEEE Wireless Hive conference. Has over 20 issued US patents.
Kwok Wu, Head of Embedded Software and Systems Solutions, Freescale Semiconductor. Kwok has many years of diverse experience in advanced embedded systems and software, FPGA software development, and EDA design automation. He holds a PhD, EECS (Computer Engineering) from the University of Texas at Austin. Kwok has delivered innovative, integrated, optimized high performance embedded scalable software and products for Freescale’s SoCs (Power Architecture, Starcore DSP, ARM, Zigbee) for wireless broadband networking, telecommunication, enterprise, SOHO/consumer, automotive, industrial, Zigbee-based smart energy and telehealth segments.
Previous positions held were various Executive Management positions of Software at various startups and Fortune 500 companies such as AMD, Lattice, Actel, AT&T Bell Laboratories and Lucent Technology.
Dr. Syed ljlal Ali Shah, is currently the Director of Systems at Lattice Semiconductor. Previously, Dr. Shah worked at Freescale Semiconductor as Data Path Systems Architect. He has a Ph.D from Columbia University and has written over 35 academic and industrial papers. He is also co-edited a book published by CRC press and has multiple patents to his credit. Dr. Shah’s interests are in wireless networks, Sensor networks, Water Management, IP networks and complex high end SoCs.
Saurabh Sureka is associated with the IEEE from over 10 years in various roles. His experience and expertise is in product engineering, software development, and product marketing. He has worked with several companies, dabbled with a couple of successfull start-ups in RFID mobile applications, network/storage convergence. He has served as the Publications Chair of HIVE conference and has invited several well-known speakers to talk at ComSoc-SP events in Austin. He has a MS in EE from UTA and has presented his research on Neural Networks at several conferences.
Tim Raper (Community Communications)
Tim Raper received his BS in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University. His industry experience includes work with three large corporations and two start-up environments including Standard Micro Systems Corporation (SMSC), OASIS SiliconSystems, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Alchemy Semiconductor, and Delphi Electronics. His recent industry focus has been on the development and implementation of strategic planning, technical product marketing, life cycle management, and business partnerships for semiconductors and IP product portfolios within the high reliability segments of automotive, industrial, networking, telecommunications, and multimedia applications.
Sam Mehra has over 15 years of experience in Finance and Marketing. I have a Bachelor of Arts In Economics & I have completed many IT related courses. I am currently working for Dell as a Finance Consultant. Self-Starter who strives to achieve results and exceed expectations by taking initiative. Proven Analytical and Problem Solving skills by solving detailed situations in a business environment. Proactive leader who works well with individuals and teams.
Frances Freeman became employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1982 and worked as a Repair Clerk, Service Rep, Technician, and as a Project Coordinator. In 1998, she obtained her Associate of Science in Engineering at Austin Community College. In 2005, she graduated from UT at Austin with a BS in Electrical Engineering with the focus on Communications and Signal Processing. In 2008, Frances was asked to become the Treasurer for IEEE ComSoc/SP. She is also a member of the Women of AT&T and HACEMOS.
Richard has been interested in Information Technology since high school and over the years. He is currently studying at the University of Texas at Austin and serves as the president of the IEEE Communications Society University of Texas Austin Chapter.
Shabbir has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Minnesota State University. He is working for Emerson Electric as a software engineer for Industrial automation group. Shabbir interests is redundancy for wired and wireless communications.
