Santander is a port city, capital of the region of Cantabria and located on the northern coast of Spain. It is conveniently communicated with Europe and other important Spanish cities such as Madrid and Barcelona.

SANTANDER AIRPORT
The conference venue is only 7 km away from Santander airport. The main airline is RYANAIR that provides direct connections with Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Palma, Sevilla, Malaga, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur and Lanzarote, as well as international connections to Brussels, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Edinburgh, London, Milan, Paris and Rome.
IBERIA, flag carrier and the largest airline of Spain, operates two routes from Santander: Madrid and Barcelona.
There are two more companies that fly to Santander: AIR NOSTRUM (Madrid), VUELING (Barcelona).
*There is a shuttle service from Santander airport to Santander bus station which is located in the city centre at “Plaza de las Estaciones”. This shuttle service leaves from the arrivals area of the terminal at 6.40 h. and then every 30 minutes from 7.00 h to 23.00 h. Tickets can only be purchased on the bus.
BILBAO AIRPORT
Bilbao international airport is only 100 km away from Santander and provides direct and regular connections to the major European cities. The airport is situated in Loiu (on the outskirts of Bilbao).
*There is a shuttle service from Bilbao airport to Bilbao bus station. This shuttle service leaves from the arrivals area of the terminal every 30 minutes at quarter past and quarter to from 6:15 h. to 23.15 h. Tickets can only be purchased on the bus.
From Bilbao bus station to Santander bus station, buses leave approximately every hour. A return ticket may vary from 12,54€ (“normal”) to 27,91€ (“supra”). Tickets have to be purchased at the ticket office. Website: www.Termibus.es
By Sea:
The company Brittany Ferries operates ferries from Santander to Plymouth and Portsmouth in the United Kingdom. The Maritime Station is located in the city centre.
By Train:
Santander main train station, RENFE, is located at “Plaza de las Estaciones” in the city centre. It offers daily ALVIA trains to Madrid.
FEVE Station. It is also located at “Plaza de las Estaciones”, in the city centre and offers regional train services, as well as trains to Bilbao and Oviedo.
By Bus:
Santander bus station is located at “Plaza de las Estaciones” in the city centre. Santander is connected to several cities throughout Spain and Europe with the coach companies ALSA and Bilmambus.
By Car:
• From Bilbao, around 106 km, 1 hour 12 minutes, on the motorway A-8.
• From Madrid:
– Option 1: around 455 km, 4 hours 12 minutes. On the motorways A-1 to Burgos, A231 then A67 to Santander.
– Option 2: around 455 km, 4 hours 13 minutes. On the motorways A-6, AP-6 (toll road), A6, A62 then A67 to Santander.
