High Voltage and Power Electronics Laboratory Tour

Join fellow IEEE members and guests as we meet Ohio State Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Dr. Jin Wang, enjoy refreshments, and tour Dreese Lab. The Dreese high voltage and power electronics laboratory is the only university facility of its kind in the Midwest, and focuses on research regarding large scale megawatt implementation of renewable energy sources and energy storage devices. During our tour, Dr. Wang will lead us in demonstrations of the effects of electric fields, the air breakdown in a non-uniform field, the sights of flashover on insulators, observations of a 5MV Tesla coil, and more. Come experience this behind-the-lab look at one of the only facilities in the country that focuses on high power applications!

Where: Meet at 221 Caldwell Laboratory @ 2024 Neil Ave, Columbus, OH for start of tour
When: Thursday, August 11th, 6:00-7:30pm
Cost: Free for members, goodwill donation for guests
