IEEE Member Grade Elevation – Align Your Membership Grade With Your Superiority in Talent!

January 16, 2016

Welcome to the 561 New and Current Members of IEEE Columbia!

We’re delighted you’re geographically linked to IEEE in the midlands of South Carolina. We’re on-the-ground and online to help ensure you’re benefiting from your IEEE membership!

IEEE membership enhances every stage of your career but did you know that as you evolve and make significant contributions to your professions, you qualify for membership elevation in IEEE?

Whether you are an established professional or just getting started, IEEE membership levels (grades) identify you as superior talent. So, elevate your member grade as you advance in your career. Elevated member grades can bring added peer recognition to your accomplishments, since higher grade levels are indicative of greater expertise often required for key IEEE leadership roles and principle engagements in industry, public policy-making, projects, conferences, consulting, teaching, publishing, and more.

Well -does your IEEE membership grade align with your level of expertise and contributions to your profession? Are you using your membership grade to manage your reputation and accomplishments?

Upon review, it appears many members of Columbia Section deserve member elevation! Let’s discuss your particular situation. Email us at any time at r3-columbia@ieee.org or attend the Member Elevation events in April or September 2016. Visit the Columbia Section website for dates/locations or additional events. http://site.ieee.org/columbia.

Have you aligned YOUR membership grade with YOUR superiority in talent?

  • If you continue to hold Associate or Affiliate membership, you may now want to move to Member or Senior Member.
  • If you joined IEEE as a traditional undergraduate student or graduate student, upon graduation IEEE will automatically elevate you to Young Professional status. Columbia Section currently has 126 Students and 48 Graduate Students.
  • If you joined IEEE as a non-traditional student with significant experiences and contributions, you can pursue Member level rather than a Student/Graduate Student level. Columbia Section currently has 302 Members.
  • If you are at Young Professional or Member grade but are now serving in a leadership/senior (engineer, programmer, scientist, consultant, etc.) role in your profession or you have made substantial contributions to your profession, then you may consider becoming a Senior Member. Senior Member is not a reference to age but to superiority in talent. Columbia Section has 62 Senior Members.
  • The highest membership level is IEEE Fellow. This level is a “distinction reserved for select IEEE members whose extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of this prestigious grade elevation.” There are currently (Jan 16, 2016) 20 Fellows in South Carolina: Mt. Pleasant (1), North Myrtle Beach (1), Myrtle Beach (1), Lexington (1), Fort Mill (1), Salem (1), Columbia (4), and Clemson (10).
