Joint Meeting with CEC — Utilizing Blockchain Technology in E-prescription and Drug Monitoring Service

July 8, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Co-sponsored by: Chattanooga Engineers Club

Almost three-fourths of the state’s 1776 drug overdose deaths in 2017 were associated with opioids, a class of drugs that’s addictive and can cause serious or fatal side effects, particularly when with other controlled substances. Citing studies that only 46% of physicians use e-prescribing systems, which allows them to write and fill prescriptions electronically, Tyler Seaberg said the new blockchain technology will provide an audited ledger of transactions that is tamper-proof, time-stamped and shared across a network of computers so that doctors and pharmacist who are registered in different states and offices can also see a patient’s full prescription history.

Tyler Seaberg and Ryan Seaberg founded EirSystems in 2018, which is launching the e-prescription and drug monitoring service in Ohio and Tennessee this year. Tyler will present their launch plan, timeline of their innovation, business strategy, and potential solution for opioid overdose crisis.
