IEEE Central Illinois Wins Membership Growth Award

The IEEE Central Illinois Section has recently been awarded the Membership Growth Award by IEEE Region 4 (Midwest Region). The awards ceremony took place at the joint IEEE Region 4 and Region 6 (Western US) annual meeting in Burlingame, California.

New Objectives for 2025

As of 2024, the IEEE Central Illinois Section hosted 3 technical chapters (Computers, Solid State Circuits, and Power and Energy), the Young Professionals group, and the Council for Electronic Design Automation (CEDA). At the time, Central Illinois Section volunteers prioritized returning the volume of member activities to pre-pandemic levels, while conducting events on subjects that do not yet have a corresponding IEEE society in the local area (such as Electromagnetic Compatibility).

Beginning in March 2025, more technical events are being planned as the group hopes to cover more ground than the previous year. This includes bringing events to the Decatur area and more college campuses, offering PDH/CEU credits to attendees of local technical presentations, and creating a Life Member development group.

Volunteers and Subject Matter Experts Sought

The Central Illinois technical activities committee is looking for IEEE Members or affiliates who can help bring more engineering events to the area by volunteering, hosting site tours, or be being a guest lecturer. Any members interested are urged to attend a local event and reach event organizers directly either face-to-face or via the event page.
