Lincoln, IL: National Weather Service Presentation goes Online and In-Person

The IEEE Central Illinois Section’s October tour of the National Weather Service is now an in-person and online event! Registration and attendance are free to all IEEE students and IEEE members. IEEE members may bring one nonmember guest. All visitors must register first.

About the presentation

According to the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL), dual-polarization radar can extract information about the horizontal and vertical properties of particles held aloft. These size and shape data allow meteorologists to classify rain, ice pellets, snow, hail, non-precipitation particles, and ground clutter with greater accuracy.
