Myron Wilson receives “The Jack Sherman Outstanding Member” Award from IEEE

Myron Wilson, presently a Life Fellow Member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and IEEE Cedar Rapids Section, was awarded the 2011, Jack Sherman Outstanding Member IEEE Region 4 by the IEEE Region 4 awards committee. IEEE Region 4 is a geographical 10 state area in the central USA.
Myron has been awarded because of the collective contributions that he made of outstanding and noteworthy stature as well as his singular works that exemplify the objectives and attributes of IEEE.

Myron, a fellow member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), is active in ASQ and also ASQ’s National Board.  Additionally, Myron is on the Board of the Iowa Quality Center.

Myron is presently Vice-Chair of the IEEE Teller’s Committee.  He also served as IEEE Cedar Rapids Section Chair when the first ProCon was held in 1997.  Myron has also served as IEEE Cedar Rapids Section Educational Activities Chair, IEEE Region 4, Director-Elect (1999-2000) and Director (2001-2002).  He has also served as IEEE Region 4 Life Member Affinity Group Coordinator (2007-2008).
Myron, presently a fellow member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), served as the IIE International President during 1991-1992. He also served on their Board of Trustees 1983-1987 and 1990-1993.

Additionally, Myron is an active volunteer with Rockwell Collins Retiree Volunteers (RCRV) and Cedar Rapids Symphony Foundation Board.

“The Jack Sherman Outstanding Member” Award is designed to recognize members of IEEE Region 4 who through their professional and technical abilities have made outstanding and noteworthy contributions to the Institute, their communities, fellow professionals and fellow man. The award is not designed to recognize a single achievement, but rather collective contributions complemented by singular works exemplifying the objectives and attributes of IEEE. The award is considered for presentation annually by evaluation of nominations submitted in accordance with the award criteria and procedures.
