IEEE COMSOC Student Branch Chapter, Cmr Institution of Technology
Introduction
In CMR Institute of Technology the importance of IEEE and it’s Student branch was known from very long time. The student chapter was started in late 2012 but was inactive for a short period. It was restarted on 30 April 2019. Along with the inauguration of IEEE CMRIT student branch, COMSOC student chapter was started. We have organized many technical events such as TECH talks, Workshops and Hands on sessions.
Our very first event was to form the student council for effective working of the branch which had at tech talk on Communication Technology towards 5G.
One among our ComSoc events was a Two days Hands – on Session on Robotics on 21.10.19 & 22.10.19 and students participated in huge number.

Brief Description:
A two day hands-on workshop on FIREBIRD V using Atmel Studio was organized at CMRIT Bangalore on 21st and 22nd October 2019 by the CMRIT IEEE student branch, CMRIT e-Yantra lab, CMRIT center of excellence of embedded system, IEEE Robotics & Automation Society and IEEE Bangalore Section.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjay Jain, Principal, CMRIT at 9.30 am, it was followed up by a presentation on “Introduction to Robotics Platforms and motivation towards robotics” by Dr. Venkatarangan M J, Associate Professor, Dept of EEE, PESU, Bangalore and he is also the secretary of IEEE Robotics and automation society Bangalore section. He was the resource person for that entire day from 10am to 3.30 pm. The introductory session covered various fields of robotics, the key features of different platforms available in the industry.
Second day session started at 10 am , with a key-note speech about “Basics of Robotics and IoT” by Prof.Velraj Kumar P, Senior Member IEEE, Associate Professor , EEE Dept. CMRIT, Bangalore. There was a session on basics of programming and hands on training of motion control using FIREBIRD V kit and Atmel Studio by Prof. Deepa Pradeep and Prof. Hemanthkumar U M, Asst. Professor, TCE Dept. CMRIT, Members of e-Yantra Team CMRIT.
