The workshop aims to provide insights on 5G networks which require a new approach to the management of data, as the network embraces Cloud-native architecture, Service Orientation. For the next few years, 4G and 5Gwill co-exist, which requires linkage of 4G subscriber data repository and UDM in 5G, which is being standardized now. As 5G encourages ecosystem collaboration, new opportunities arise with IoT and Edge for vertical industry solutions. Data Management becomes very key across domains within operators and the ecosystems for monetization. Cross-domain linkage is very key for handling Zero Touch Operations leveraging AI / ML and automation. As networks are becoming open, it’s important to focus on e2e data security, privacy, and governance.

This workshop is a first of a series of 5G security workshops. It will focus on end-to-end (E2E) security aspects of 4G, and beyond 5G network deployments. While the network has evolved to provide better bitrate(eMBB), lower latency (URLLC), and massive device connectivity (mMTC), the security threat surface also has evolved with it. The softwarization and network virtualization has magnified the challenge further. The intersection of 5G, IoT, DLT & AI/ML brings an extension of the existing threat surface that requires careful consideration from a cyber risk perspective in a zero-trust multi-cloud environment. IEEE ComSoc Bangalore Chapter presents a workshop on 5G: Ultra-Reliable Low Latency (URLLC) for futuristic Applications :

The ITU-R has defined three main application areas for the enhanced capabilities of 5G. They are Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC), and Massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC). The URLLC application will cater to multiple advanced services for latency-sensitive connected devices, such as factory automation, autonomous driving, the industrial internet, robotic surgeries. In this workshop, we discuss 5G Architecture with special reference to URLLC and the industry leaders will walk us through the standards, URLLC algorithms, and details of the complex deployment challenges across the vertical segments.

*IEEE ComSoc Bangalore* invites you to a session on *INTELLIGENT REFLECTING SURFACES: Fundamentals, Applications, Challenges and Future Trends* on *Jan 30th* at *10 AM*

In this two part talk on the topic of intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS), we first introduce this new field by motivitating it from the perspective of 6G communications, as an evolution of next generation wireless communication systems. Next, we highlight the key differences between ambient backscattering communication (ABC) and IRS. Later, we present a detailed study on the mathematical models for IRS-based communications, and discuss key applications. Furthermore, we discuss the future research trends and the potential of IRS to coexist with other 6G-related technologies. Finally, we provide the concluding remarks, and list some of the unsolved problems in theory and practice.
