You are invited to join us on August 30th 2016, for a presentation and tour of the Georgia Power Solar Demonstration Project. We will have two speaker from the Renewable Development Department that will talk to us about the different resources, latest market trends, and economics about solar power systems. Also, we are going to look at the impact that solar is causing to our always changing grid.
After the presentation, we are going to take you to the rooftop where different types of solar arrangements are being currently tested for performance and best engineering practices.
Registration is required for this event. The prices are $5 for IEEE Members, $15 for Non-IEEE Member and free for IEEE Student Members. Space is limited.
This event is cosponsored by the Power Electronics Society.
Join us for dinner and a presentation about “The Internet of Things” on June 9th at the GTRI Headquarters. The discussion will take lead by Ben Warlick and Bryan Stewart from Morris, Manning & Martin on the topics of privacy, data security, and IP protection for new and emerging technologies.
The Internet of Things (IoT) describes an interconnected world in which devices, vehicles, machinery, and infrastructure communicate with us and with each other over the Internet. The IoT will bring complex business and legal challenges, particularly in the areas of privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
Registration for the meeting has started and will continue until Wednesday, June 8th 2016. Online admission is going to be free for IEEE Members and $10 for Non-IEEE Members.
Register for our Professional Development Luncheon: “From teleCommunications and Resistors to Communications and Relationships”. We are honored to host Anthony Washington, an exceptional speaker that will share with us the essentials and the irrelevant of how to succeed in the corporate world.
The corporate paradigm has changed, it is no longer about what you know, it is who you know. Corporate leaders say that the ability to communicate well orally is one of the most important skills their recruiters look for in job candidates. Anthony is going to share his lessons learned on how to get into Corporate America and how to succeed once you get there. Anthony is going to explain how he went from learning about resistors and telecommunications to relationships and communications. Anthony’s credentials include seven (7) years in Toastmasters (International Speaking Organization) where he was voted best speaker as well serving as a United Way Loaned Executive. He will share his lessons learned after years of education and experience working in a Fortune 500 Corporation.
Registration for the meeting has started and will continue until Sunday, August 30th. Online admission is going to be free for IEEE Members and $10 for Non-IEEE Members. If you forgot to register, you are always welcomed to come in. Admission price at the registration table the day of the luncheon are $10 for IEEE Members and $15 for Non-IEEE Members. IEEE Power & Energy Society Young Professionals Webinar Series
Going 100% Renewable Energy
24 July 2015 12:00 pm eastern
Presented by Mustafa Almomani
IndyACT in Jordan
Renewable energy is not a fantasy but a requirement if we want to save the world from drastic climate change. This webinar will discuss Solar and Wind technologies that are seen as being the source of electricity replacing all fossil fuels, which became the most economical solution for new capacity in growing number of countries and regions and are typically the most economical solution for new grid-connected capacity where good resources are available.
This talk examines why we should go 100% renewable energy with several case studies and examples across the world and what we are doing in Go100%RE campaign in Jordan. It will also cover what kind of skills and knowledge that the engineers would need to become part of the movement toward achieving 100% renewable energy.
