The OCEANS conference, jointly sponsored by the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (IEEE/OES) and the Marine Technology Society (MTS) was held in Anchorage in September 2017.  One Session Series of the conference was The Blue Economy which is an effort to foster development of new industry and business related to ocean and marine activities and locations. The Blue Economy has been thriving in Alaska since the conference.

The Alaska Ocean Cluster  -AOC is one of the organizations which have been very active with the Blue Economy.
