Virginia Espinosa-Duró, SPAIN
Virginia Espinosa-Duró received the MSc degree in Electronic Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Signal Theory and Communications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
Since 1997 she is an Associate Professor of the Electronic Department of the ESPT (joined to UPC), teaching in Electronics and Security Technology at the Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels and leading the concerned Department from 2007 to 2010.
Dr. Espinosa belongs to the signal processing research group at Science and Technology Park Tecnocampus, participating in several Spanish and European funded research projects.
Her main research interests focus on pattern recognition, neural networks and machine learning systems applied on the field of face and fingerprints recognition techniques.
She has published more than thirty referred journal and conference papers, has been scientific reviewer of many conferences and workshops about these concerned items and has also presented some invited speeches on electronic technology. Currently she is also interested in sustainability and ethical aspects of technological issues.
Virginia is a member of the IEEE ICCST Executive Committee since 2011 and a frequent contributor to the Carnahan Conference since 1999. She was the Conference co-chair of the 2011 ICCST jointly with Dr. Marcos Faúndez in Barcelona, Spain.
