The 4th edition of the International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT’16) will be held in Puebla, Puebla, México on April 27-29, 2016. The aim of the conference is to bring together practitioners and researchers from academia, industry and government to advance the state of the art in Software Engineering, as well as generate synergy between academia and industry to define an agenda for collaboration to support and promote the development of the software industry in Mexico and at the international level. Papers that combine theory and practice in Software Engineering are especially welcome. In this edition the Latin American Engineering Symposium (LASES’16) is collocated with CONISOFT’16, in order to integrate the efforts in Latin American region.

CONISOFT’16 Topics (including LASES’16): The topics for this edition are listed below, but are not limited to these.

2. Empirical Software Engineering

  • Empirical Methods.
  • Statistical Methods and Measurement.
  • Simulation Methods.
  • Missing Data in Software Engineering.
  • Experimentation in Software Engineering.
  • Human Factors in Software Engineering.

3. Interaction with other disciplines

  • User-centered design: human-computer interaction, usability engineering.
  • Social Issues in software engineering: psychology, sociology.

4. Trends in Software Engineering

  • Construction of complex systems: recommendation systems.
  • Modeling and knowledge management.
  • Support methodologies: agents-based methodologies, natural language processing, machine learning.

5. SEMAT topics (LASES’16)

  • Theoretical basis for software engineering.
  • Formal methods for software engineering.
  • Experimental evaluation and validation.
  • Essence in practice.
  • The split between industry practice and academic research.

Participation modalities (types of works):

  • Scientific papers: original research, basic and experimental.
  • Industry experience papers: situations experienced in the industry, success stories.
  • Student Research Consortium: Bachelor, Master and Doctorate. With themes listed above.

Papers must be original works, not have been published before, nor subjected simultaneously to other events. Works will be presented as long papers (up to 10 pages) and short papers (up to 6 pages).
Submitted papers will be evaluated by an international technical committee composed of renowned researchers and professionals, which can be consulted in the Web site of the conference.

Papers will be presented in Spanish or English.

Paper publication:

(a) English accepted papers will be published in the IEEE electronic proceedings, with ISBN, and published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library;

(b) Spanish accepted papers will be integrated and published in the electronic memories (with ISBN) of the conference, edited by the CONISOFT’16 Organizing Committee;

(c) Book: Based on the quality of the submissions we are considering publishing selected papers in LASES’16 topics, in a post-workshop Book edited by the National University of Colombia. Authors will be required to provide expanded versions in English of their submissions which will undergo an additional review process for inclusion in the Book;

(d) Journal: Based on the quality of the submissions we are considering publishing the best papers in a post-workshop special issue of a distinguished journal. Authors will be required to provide expanded versions in English of their submissions which will undergo an additional review process for inclusion in the special issue.

* Publication requirements:
– For a paper to be published it is necessary to cover the registration fee for the first author. (This is a mandatory requirement for the IEEE proceedings and the proceedings edited by the CONISOFT’16 Organizing Committee).
– To attend the conference and paper presentation. (This is a mandatory requirement for publication in IEEE Xplorer).
